Artistic Training

At 4 years old she discovers her passion for dance  and still very young she starts a permanent movement research  laboratory for amateurs, thanks to which she begins to experiment a very personal composition technique.

After a law degree from the University of Siena and a Master in International Protection of Human Rights at the University of London, she decides to devote herself entirely to dance. In 2000 she is a visitor student at the University of Texas-Austin-US Department of Perfoming Arts and in 2001 after an international hearing she is admitted to the Academy Isola Danza La Biennale di Venezia, where she works with important dancers and choreographers such as: Malou Airaudo, Frey Faust, Ivan Wolfe, Larrio Ekson and Carolyn Carlson; she is particularly attached to the latter in collaborations and artistic projects. Since 2005 continuously Francesca follows the work of the master David Zambrano and his technique “flying low” and “passing through“; that work inspires his personal pedagogical and choreographic research.

Choreographic Career

She begins her career as choreographer with “Frida” a show inspired by life and poetics of Mexican painter Frida Kalho, produced with the supervision of Carolyn Carlson. In 2005, exclusively for the corps de ballet of the Verona Arena she realises “PULCINELLA”, a performance of contemporary dances to the music of Igor Stravinsky and “CARMINA BURANA”, in 2009, to the music of Carl Orff. Besides many works for theatrical spaces, her choreographic exploration has developed a huge repertoire around the theme of the body in public and urban spaces and a large experimentation in music looking for a free zone of dialogue between sound, body and space. She has collaborated with many Music Academies such as Accademia Musicale Chigiana di Siena and with numerous jazz and classical musicians (Francesco Dillon, Ettore Bonafè, Silvia Bolognesi, Emanuele Parrini, Cristina Abati  e Andrea Beninati) with whom she has built and perfected a technique of improvisation and instantaneous writing of the gesture through music. Her creations have been presented in numerous festivals and theatres in Italy, France, the UK, Spain, Albania, Germany, Mexico, Brazil and Israel.

Artistic direction of festivals and academic projects

She is artistic director of ADARTE Company supported by The Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and the Regional Authority of Tuscany. Since 2009 she is the artistic director of Ballo Pubblico, Festival Internazionale di Danza Contemporanea in Spazi Urbani (International Festival of Contemporary Dance in Urban Spaces) now at the 8^th edition. She is frequently invited to direct workshops and master classes both in Italy and abroad; she has lectured at DAMS, Torino – University of Turin, UNISI University of Siena, UNAM University – Mexico City, Hakvutza Dance Center – Tel Aviv and at the Centro de Bellas Artes de San Luis de Potosì – Mexico, she collaborates continuously with ACS Abruzzo Circuito Spettacolo and with Fondazione Toscana Spettacolo for numerous amateurs and dancers training projects.

She has collaborated with Un Cuore si Scioglie Foundation (UNICOOP Florence) on many choreographic training and production projects dedicated to the theme of integration involving young students from a high school and a group of disabled children; for the same Foundation she has realized “POP STAR” a project of performing art in the workplace for the employees of a COOP Supermarket.

The University of Siena has invited Francesca to direct a movement research laboratory for European and non-European students from that experience was born SOUL CORPUS a dance action dedicated to the theme of European geographical and cultural borders.
